Singelberg Clinic

Beveren-Waas (City)

If you are looking for top quality, competitively-priced cosmetic surgery without the inconvenience of long distance travel, then the Singelberg clinic may be the answer for you. A combination of a private clinic and a Belgian NHS hospital, the Singelberg clinic is located 30 minutes from Antwerp or Brussels , the heart of Europe . The initial consultation and check-up is always done by the plastic surgeon himself.

Dr Oelbrandt trained both in Belgium and abroad ( Uk and India ).He is fully registered with the Belgian and British General Medical Councils and is a member of the Belgian Royal Society of Plastic Surgeons.

Smaller cases (eg breast enlargement, liposuctions, eyelids, mini facelifts, ears, etc... are done as a day case in the SingelbergClinic; more complex cases are done in the Belgian public (NHS) hospital, where longer operations and overnight stays are possible. The Singelberg clinic is a private clinic, cooperating closely with a Belgian NHS hospital.

The hospital has a 24 hour Accident and Emergency department, as well as a full range of acute medical and surgical facilities (including Intensive Care). Night shifts are covered by a team of doctors and para-medic's, all professionally trained in the treatment of acute emergency care.

In contrast to a private clinic, the patient can stay overnight in the hospital as long as is medically required. The word ‘Kliniek' in Belgium can be slightly underestimated and somewhat misleading for non-Belgians, as a ‘Kliniek is a real hospital. In the UK , for example, a clinic is a private facility, whereas a hospital is a public hospital. By law, in Belgium , private clinics can only perform day-cases. Patients can only stay overnight in the hospitals that have been assessed by the government according to strict regulations. All hospitals in Belgium are public hospitals, but private patients are able to use their facilities.

There are 130 specialists working in the clinic, providing expert medical advice and surgical services, such as:

  • Plastic, reconstructive and cosmetic surgery
  • Maternity and obstetrics
  • Orthopedic surgery
  • Cardiology and internal medicine
  • Radiology
  • General and vascular surgery, Urology
  • Physiotherapy etc.

As the healthcare system in Belgium is closely monitored by the authorities and has to abide by very rigorous laws, means that standards are of an extremely high quality. Before being able to practise in this hospital, every doctor is screened by the hospital management and by the medical board. All doctors must be well insured against medical indemnity, and registered with both, the Belgian Medical Council (Ordre des Medecins, the Belgian equivalent of the GMC) and with their own professional body.

The main priority of the clinic is to provide the patient with the highest possible degree of safety and security, whilst offering a quality service. The professional environment is guaranteed through our fully qualified, medics, para-medics and nurses. To ensure your complete security, the clinic is equipped with the latest medical apparatus, along with the most sophisticated emergency equipment available. Problem's such as MRSA infection, which has known to be the cause of death in hospitals in other countries, are uncommon in Belgium, thanks to a strict policy to treat such patients. Sterilisation procedures in hospitals are also very strict, and are consistently regulated by the national authorities.

Our main concern goes to providing the best care to patients. Every day, all the doctors, nurses, and para-medics devote themselves with heart and soul to the patient's care and comfort.

The hospital can accommodate over 300 patients. The private (single) rooms are all equipped with toilet, bathroom, television and phone. The maximum number of people in a shared room is 4. Our Patients can choose between a single, double, or a 4 bedroom room. Visiting times are variable and in some cases flexible, depending on the department, usually between 8.00 – 20.00.
